What our Readers had to say

Praveen Mili

The life science book co-authored by you is exemplary. My son in grade 3 and daughter in grade 1 read it every night with me. A picture is worth a thousand words and your book nicely explains life science with carefully selected pictures. Each chapter in the book has been selected with a lot of insight. Thank you for raising the curiosity of learning through this wonderful book.

Life Science for Visual Learners is perfect for teaching one on one or in small groups. I use it in my preschool classroom as a supplement for other hands-on activities, and the children love to point out the many different pictures in the book and tell me what they know. The book has plenty of text for the teacher or parent to read to the child, and the colorful pictures keep children engaged. I definitely would recommend this book to other educators.

Life Science for Visual Learners is filled with gorgeous visual imagery that is sure to stimulate and interest young, active minds.  Children will delight in the vivid colors and easy to read print.   The book is ninety pages long and covers a wide range of topics that mainly deal with:  plants, insects, and animals.  I particularly liked how it focuses on the differences between them and the variety of life on earth.
A fantastic book for early learners.

A very colorful, educational book for visual learners. The pictures and simple explanation make the concepts of science easy to understand for any child. It covers every aspect of basic science, building a strong foundation for the curious minds to explore further and acquire knowledge. Very few books can evoke interest in young children and if you're looking for a book to teach science to your child I'll tell you to look no further. This is it!

Children are magical. They have a natural sense of curiosity and are uniquely capable of learning. Traditionally, the learning process relies heavily on language, both printed text and verbal discourse. When a child struggles with language, parents and educators often make assumptions about a child’s limited capacity to learn, especially concepts that are scientific and conceptual. When appropriate tools and supports are available and used, the opportunity for learning unfolds for that child in ways that are unprecedented.

A beautiful, bright and colorful textbook perfect for elementary age students. This book is the perfect supplement to any life science curriculum especially for those who may have different learning styles. Having two children with dyslexia this type of textbook is a great addition to the science bookshelf. The textbook is written in an easy to understand way and the pictures are large and keep the student’s attention. The written explanations are very simple and there are many pictures.

As a pediatric neurologist, I am constantly amazed by the complexity of the child’s brain and how each child’s brain is unique. LIFE SCIENCE for visual learners seems designed to pique a child’s interest from the onset with vivid pictures and the capability to start at any chapter in the book, depending on their interest at the moment. It begins with concrete objects and builds to higher concepts. I would highly recommend this book for concrete and visual learners.

I have used "Life Science for Visual Learners" with several of the children I work with, even with very young children. As a speech-language pathologist, I have found that the book can be an excellent resource for learning even outside the intended science knowledge. The pictures are a great way to encourage language use from almost all children, as there are so many pictures that at least one of them is likely to catch the child's interest. I have also used it to teach about categories of things. It is very convenient to have the book laid out so that (...)

This is a bright and colorful book that is well suited for young children. The written explanations are very simple and there are many pictures. There is a fair amount of text (I'd say on average about a quarter of most pages is text) so an older child might find it stimulating as well. The pages are thick and slick-coated enough that a spill of food or drink could probably be wiped up without wrinkling the pages. It is also wire bound so the book can lie flat while open. The book is 90 pages and contains four chapters, 1) Living and Nonliving Things, 2) (...)

I truly enjoyed reading Life Science For Visual Learners. It is a great resource for students with Autism and other special needs who want to learn about life science and biology. Along with the factual information, the beautiful images and fun facts bring the book to life. All topics are explained in a way that children can understand. As a teenager with Autism, I know how hard it can be to understand science concepts with traditional texts and lectures. As a visual learner, I wish this book had been available to me when I was taught these (...)

Bought this book for my 9 year old & I’m so glad I did! Our son has SPD (Sensory Processing Disorder), and he’s a visual learner. The photos in this book are big & colorful & keep my son engaged and wanting to read more. This book makes learning fun. It’s a great feeling knowing your child WANTS to learn & is excited about learning. I look forward to more books from the author.

This book is visual learners and younger kids who are super hyper and will not sit in one place to learn. I tried it with our neighbor’s son who is only four years old and he picked up the first few concepts without much explaining – I was blown away. I would highly recommend this book for concrete and visual learn.

I am a visual learner and wish I had had a book like this when I was growing up. I gave it to my nieces and my friends children for Christmas and they loved it. I was surprised to see that they couldn't put the book down and were so enthralled with it. The pictures are so clear, colorful, attractive and explicit. What a great and fun way to learn about life science. Bravo!

Life Science For Visual Learners is a wonderful science resource for many students and teachers. It covers may life science topics in a very clear, descriptive way. I find it's especially useful for young students TK-2nd as well as older students and students with learning challenges who appreciate bright, beautiful images that correspond with the subject matter. My son who is in 1st grade enjoys the books and the interactive time he gets with me while we read through the topics, engaging with the prompt questions and images.

I bought this book as a gift for a friend who has a daughter with non-verbal autism. When I gave it to the daughter she immediately was inthralled with the vibrant pictures and leafed through the book for hours. It was a pure joy to see this little girl be fascinated with this lovely book.

It is my pleasure to recommend the book, “Life Science for Visual Learners” by Vidya Sudarsan and Sarah Jane Edward-Sebeni. Upon review, this book has the potential to be a useful tool for children of all learning styles and developmental stages. With its visually appealing layout and concise but strategic textual content, children can easily navigate through each chapter effortlessly while continuing to build on the concepts learned in prior chapters. Although the book is predominately image and photo-based, all of the graphics chosen seem to be (...)
